Spring in Poland is the best time of the year to make observations of owls. It is breeding season for owls - they become significantly more active at night and it is easy to hear their screams in parks and forests or, if you are lucky, even see them. I was lucky enough to identify the presence of two owls on trees this year and even make some photos of them. These were my first free-living owls I have seen in my life. How amazing! I,too, have never seen an owl in the wild, though I heard one in a forest when I was just a little girl. What a special experience you had to see this wonder of nature!

I wish you good luck then. This meeting was a complete coincidence. I actually came to the place to look for bats, I found an owl. A friend of mine, a passionate bird watcher, once said about owls: "Look up. They are there watching you" and, indeed, there is a lot of truth in his words. Especially, if you add a few old hollow linden trees.

Here are some more photos of mature owl of the same species, the text is unfortunately written in Polish, it treats about the observation of the bird's behavior: http://viktoriatucholka.weebly.com/wycieczki-osobiste/victoria-na-tropie-strix-aluco Leave a Reply. |
