This one is one of my favorite ones. English translation: Praise the May Meadows. Most of the songs are kept in a similar mood. Usually people sing the song altogether.
Roadside chapels are one of the most characteristic elements of Polish landscape. You can spot them by the roads almost everywhere in Poland. They take different forms: of small chapels hanging on trees, small brick chapels, monuments and so on. Most of them are shelter to the representations of Madonna and Child. One of the most popular is the so called Black Madonna of Częstochowa. The tradition behind them is, of course, of religious background - a strong belief in divine providence watching over the overall human existence. They are often placed on crossroads for the protection of passers-by. Farmers take care of them for the sake of good crops. Every May many people, especially women, gather at the chapels to decorate them with colorful ribbons and flowers, sing Marian songs and pray every day. It is always worth joining them to listen to their singing. Some songs are truly beautiful. This one is one of my favorite ones. English translation: Praise the May Meadows.
