How do ideas come to our mind? They say everything has already been invented. All we can do is only look for inspiration in the works of others. Nothing more wrong. Even they got inspired by the mother of all invention - nature. And in this sense nothing stands in your way to invent and create unique concepts.
Let me show you how it works on the example of a christmas card I made myself - Light in December
STEP 1: IDEA
It all came to me one freezing cold December evening when I entered the room normally not used during the winter time. I was looking for some stuff and at some point winter ferns attracted my attention. They looked stunningly beautiful! The frost flowers reminded me of tree branches in the forest. I could hardly notice the warmly lit house of my neighbour through the thick surface of frost. This experience inspired me to make a christmas card Light in December.
STEP 2: FORM
At first I looked for the best means to transfer my idea to paper or any other surface which would put me closer to achieve the desired effect. I wanted to make it in color, but it turned out that paper covered with black oil paint and pencil seem to be the best solution to achieve the kind of texture I imagined.
STEP 3: COLOR
The final step involved color correction. I made three diferent color versions of the ready image out of which I liked most the one below. Some people refrain from using the range of possibilities that computer technology offers us. Personally I had a lot to do with it professionally before I started my own artistic activity. I try to use it as little as possible and I do normally encourage people to do the same, but still I do believe that the task of achieving the desired effect comes as a priority and allows the use of all possible means, even computer technology. After all, what counts at the end is the final result. Nice, isn't it?
