A thought-provoking sculpture by local artist Roger Bennie
Albion Park in Forbes, New South Wales, Australia
'Inside Out' is the second sculpture Roger Bennie entered in the Sculpture Forbes Competition which takes place every year since 2014. The winner can receive $20,000 acquisition prize. The artist was unsuccessful in winning the prize, but both his sculptures 'Inside Out' and 'Pemulwuy' can be seen in the local Albion Park in Forbes. 'Inside Out' was inspired by Auguste Rodin's sculpture 'The Thinker' from 1902. It took Bennie nine months to finish the thinking man sculpture. What he intended through his work was to free the audience from wondering what the thinking man is actually thinking about by projecting all his thoughts out. The name 'Inside Out' means that the thoughts on the inside are projected out. Bennie intended to provoke discussion and make it tangible to the community. In his opinion, most works of art do not communicate or contact with the audience, which he personally finds the most important goal of art. Otherwise, what sense does it make to create at all? So far Bennie focused mainly on painting and 'Inside Out' is sort of a marriage between painting and sculpture. The sculpture was made of metal wrapped in chicken mesh and rendered in concrete. It weighs about two tonnes. Albion Park in Forbes is home also to many other intriguing sculptures.
"Inside Out" to druga rzeźba, którą Roger Bennie zgłosił do corocznego konkursu Sculpture Forbes competition. Rzeźba "Inside Out" jest swoistym pomostem pomiędzy malarstwem i rzeźbą. Rzeźba została wykonana z metalu owiniętego w siatkę drucianą i pokryta betonem.
