In Australia, there is a particular variety of Eucalyptus tree called the Scribbly Gum. It was named so because of the scribbly patterns that emerge on its bark. These scribbly patterns are made by the larvae of the Scribbly Gum Moth.
My fascination with nature overall has its roots deep back in time when I was still a child. I was born and spend most of my life in a forest area of central Poland. In my case truth is that if you were raised in certain natural circumstances, you sort of develop a very special attitude to you homeland that encompasses apparently contradicting emotions of both love and hatred. But lets leave hatred aside and concentrate on the positive side of the power which certainly had its big share in contributing to the whole idea of this project. I have been thinking long about opening this series. The idea developed sort of naturally. Everything started with photography. It has been one of my biggest passions for years, though sometimes I think about it in terms of a curse, because I know that it sort of deprives me from the possibility to fully experience the world around me. Well, everything has its price. Some two years ago I started to sort of naturally focus more on detail. I found different kinds of natural textures especially fascinating. At the time I was doing lots of art work, so I used the textures for some of my computer graphics. Lately it came up my mind to create series of photos concerning different places I travel to. It was not long till a great perspective appeared on the horizon to put the whole idea into being. I was offered to join a friend on a trip across Australia. The above gallery will include a series of textures I found to describe Australia best. I should call it Part 1, because if I were to really encompass Australia in such a series I would probably need 10 such trips more or a lifetime even, but it sounds sort of too optimistic and I do not really feel like venturing into the future, so let me present you the series WORLD IN TEXTURES: Eastern States of Australia. It does not sound perfect, but... Enjoy! 1. Scribbly Gum Bark With Insect Tracks. Eucalyptus Rossii, - Rainbow Beach, Queensland, Australia.
