[ENG] Little has changed? What does it mean? How much courage does this little take? Only those who dared to take the brush in their hand, paint and change what is, how it is, when a gifted brother watches over the shoulder, mom is filming, someone else is judging, and there is all that crowd around. The whole world is watching. It takes great courage to do what you feel, to overcome the fear of judgment, perhaps delight, perhaps criticism, perhaps both, not to mention the internal critic who sometimes whispers "You'd better not". And although it is difficult to compare painting to taking part in war, it is difficult not to let even this infantile, one could say, project through the prism of war. All the time I wonder what the Ukrainian children, their mothers and grandparents would paint. Would they paint at all? A month ago, a very nice Ukrainian from Lviv stood next to me. We understood each other without words, although he spoke perfect Polish. Sometimes the knowledge of the language will not help if you do not share elementary values. I said to him: Goodbye in a month. Where is he now? Is he alive? How will I know? Will we ever see each other again? The thought that perhaps I will never know bothers me a lot. A few days before our meeting, less than a week before the war started, I spontaneously threw on paper a project called "Dies Irae" (The Wrath of God), neither thinking of nor expecting any war. Today I was transferring it to canvas, though my thoughts were far away, across the eastern border. Unfortunately, I am overwhelmed by anger. Anger that the war took away a good neighbor and companion, not easy to find nowadays. Will I feel relieved when I finish?
I you are Ukrainian and could provide translation into Ukrainian, I would be grateful and honored.
