Once I found fascination with astrology in other people sort of irritating, but with time I felt drawn to astrology myself. To mysticism in general. I have discovered it is sort of cross cultural. Similar concepts appear in different cultures under different names. Just as it is with the concept of God which makes it easier for me to find contact with people that goes beyond religious affiliation. I was born in January in the astrological sign of Capricorn. Each astrological sign has a corresponding planet. The planet that corresponds to my sign is Saturn. The planet was named after the ancient Roman god Saturn.
Saturn was a god of generation, dissolution, plenty, wealth, agriculture, periodic renewal and liberation. In later developments he came to be also a god of time. In Sumerian culture Saturn had its equivalent in Ninurta - a Sumerian and the Akkadian god of hunting and war. In Hinduism in Shani dev who is embodied in the planet Saturn and is the Lord of Saturday. His name comes from Śanayē Kramati Saḥ (शनये क्रमति सः), the one who moves slowly, because Saturn takes about 30 years to revolve around the Sun. He is associated with the crow in Hindu mythology. Throughout Hindu mythology crows represent harmful and inauspicious characteristics, both of which Shani possesses. Hindu traditions often include the worship of Shani dev in order to dispel dangerous ghosts and other supernatural beings. Worshipers also perform healing rituals and exorcisms that derive from local and regional folk traditions.*
I feel strong influence of the negative power of Saturn on my present state of mind and soul. I found this mantra indeed calming and relieving from the tension that negative emotions and thoughts caused in me. Maybe you will also find it soothing. Enjoy!
